THE HAGUE — Israel faced a rare public reckoning Thursday over its war in Gaza, as lawyers for South Africa argued before the International Court of Justice that Israel’s actions, including its bombardment and siege of the enclave, showed its intent to commit genocide against Palestinians.
Israel has vehemently denied what it calls “false and baseless claims” and will present its rebuttal Friday.
